Caught a cold!

Hi Hi..
Im sorry for the long hiatus ^^;;

Was sick in bed the last 4 days....I got sick Sunday night after coming home from going to Machida 109... D; I woke up middle of the night with heavy sweat and pain in my throat, next day I could not wake up due to intense pain through out my body and my left side of my next was swollen! I didnt know what happened so my mom took my temperature turned out I had a fever of 39C about 102F and I couldnt really talk or swallow cause my neck hurt so bad so my family decided that I needed to go to the hospital.

We went to a local hospital near my house so I only had to wait like 10 min before I saw the doctor, he looked at inside my throat and touched my neck told me I had a viral infection in my lymphoid that is why my neck was swollen and it was painful to swallow. He said that this type of infection was common in Japan during this time of the year, not to fear take the meds, go home and rest for the next 3 days.

When ever you go to Japan and end up getting sick you can always go to the local small hospital with a exam fee that run about 4000 yen about $50, since I dont live in Japan I dont have insurance I end up paying flat fee of 4000 yen for the exam and 2000 yen about $25 for the meds

They gave me the list of the meds with directions for each, I got antibiotics,  pain killers, powder meds for my stomach like probiotics and some throat mouth wash to take 3 time a day for 3 days.

In Japan it is very common to see people wearing face mask in the streets its a way to show your courtesy to others if you are sick so that your dont spread your germs or if you dont want to be sick outdoors lol ^^;;

In my conclusion, before I came home me and my cousin went to karaoke before we left machida, I think I got sick from the karaoke place from either the mic or being in a small private room D; Even though being aware of high germs and bacterias being in highly concentrated populated area I tried to make sure to wash my hands, use hand sanitizer when ever Im out and after coming home but I got this sick,, D; I do also believe my immune system was weakened because I had stomach issues ever since I got to Japan and also it was my time of the month DDD;

So If you do come to Japan especially to Tokyo area please take a good care of yourself cause you dont want to get sick while you are on your vacation, make sure to wash your hands, carry hand sanitizers and gaggle your throat after you get back to your home/hotel :)

XOXO

  1. You went to Machida 109? I live there (well, not in the 109 obviously), you were so close! :D I prefer Machida sometimes over Shibuya since I hate packed crowds. So sad you caught a cold though, a lot of students are sick atm in my university. And wow, you got so many meds, Japanese are crazy for meds I think. I even got 3 different pills for a skin disease I had and was knocked out for 2 weeks >_<" Get well soon!

  8. Awwww, well I hope you're feeling better soon!! But wow, medical services are so cheap in Japan. I remember when I had to get vaccinated at the university clinic and they charged about $80 even though I had insurance, which is when you're a student! Living in the city has made me very OCD, so I carry hand sanitizer and wash my hands after I touch almost anything that's not in my own home, especially outside.

  14. oh man, i remember when i was living in japan i became so ill i went to the doctors and they gave me meds the way they gave meds to you! one thing i can say is my body is probably used to the higher dosages from american meds so the japanese ones didn't really have much effect on me :( i hope you feel better soon!

  17. Oh! I hope your better by now. I didn't know that about the face masks, I always thought it was just against smog or dust or something like that. Interesting!

  19. I hope you get better! I am an allergic person, so I've got a lot of different viral sicknesses and/or infections, I understand how you feel. Once, the doctor checked my lungs work percentage(?) and it was 20%!!! I felt like dying! Never again @___@
